Dr. Fengzhu Sun is professor and head of the Computational Biology and Bioinformatics group within the Department of Biological Sciences at USC with joint appointment in the Department of Mathematics. His Bachelors in Mathematics is from Shandong University, Masters in Probability and Statistics is from Peking University, and PhD in Applied Mathematics is from University of Southern California (USC). He wasan elected fellow of the AAAS (美国科学促进会),elected member of ISI (国际统计学会), Astor Visiting Lecturer of Oxford University in 2012, and a program chair of RECOMB2013. He received the USC Provost’s Mellon Mentoring award in 2012.

In addition, Dr. Sun is a member of a Chair Professor team in bioinformatics at Tsinghua University and a distinguished guest professor at Center for Systems and Computational Biology at Fudan University. He held visiting appointments at UCLA, Oxford University, University of Hongkong and the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Professor Sun works in the area of Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, Statistical Genetics, and Mathematical Modeling. He has published over 130 papers in the field of computational biology and bioinformatics and has been cited over 5000 times according to Google Scholar.
