Abstract:

Improvement of flatness estimates play an important role in the regularity theory for various elliptic problems. One main ingredient, which goes back to De Giorgi, is to approximate nonlinear problems by linear ones such as harmonic functions. In this talk I will report some generalizations of this classical method to singular perturbation problems of semilinear elliptic equations, and show how to use this estimate to prove De Giorgi type conjectures.
